Patrick Peterson and Bryant McFadden have made a living for their coverage skills on the football field, and while it’s a different technique, they’re now applying those traits on their new podcast ‘All Things Covered’. Instead of wide receivers, tight ends and running backs, they’ll be covering sports, entertainment, social issues, personal interests and more. Every Tuesday, the 8-time Pro Bowler Peterson and 2-time Super Bowl champion McFadden will discuss what’s happening on the gridiron as well as what intrigues them off the field. Each week they’ll welcome a star from the sports and entertainment world to have wide-ranging conversations about what interests them. Guests can include active or former football players but also athletes and influencers from other sports and walks of life. Football is how we know our hosts, but far from what defines Pat and BMac. The name says everything; expect all things to be covered!

Air Fryer Pizza Pockets

Homemade Air Fryer Pizza pockets with pepperoni, melty mozzarella, and crisp puff pastry is a major upgrade to frozen Hot Pockets.

If you (or your kids) love Hot Pockets, this recipe is for you. With an air fryer, puff pastry, and three-ingredient filling, you’re a few minutes away from the crispiest pizza pockets you’ve ever had. Naturally flaky puff pastry plus an air fryer makes crisp, buttery layers you can never get from a microwaved hot pocket.

My 2010 NCAA Tournament Rating Methods

On March 21st I presented some work on rating college basketball teams with an emphasis on estimating win probabilities in future games at SIAM-SEAS 2010. You can download the following presentation for more details of the methods:

Estimating the Probability of Winning a College Basketball Game

In this presentation I look at two ways of modeling college basketball team efficiency data: net efficiency per game (linear regression) and the number of points a team scores on a possession (multinomial logistic regression).

These models allow you to estimate various probabilities of events, and the table below lists estimates for each team’s chances of winning the 2010 NCAA tournament:

Team Linear Multinomial
Duke 58.9% 51.7%
West Virginia 18.1% 19.9%
Michigan St 14.0% 16.9%
Butler 8.9% 11.5%

Both of these models estimate that Duke has a better chance of winning the tournament than the experts estimate, so take these estimates for what they’re worth: imperfect estimates of reality that agree that Duke should be the favorite to win the tournament.

The presentation goes better with an explanation, so post in the comments if you’ve got any questions about what I’m doing with the data.

Rain or Shine drags Magnolia to Game 7 for last PBA finals ticket

ANTIPOLO — Just as their foes were reaching for the dagger in the very arena where they have emerged unscathed and crowned as champions, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters looked calm and collected, giving themselves a fightback of their own in Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup semifinals.

The Elasto Painters leaned on the marksmanship of Rey Nambatac and yet another steady performance by James Yap to fend off Magnolia, 91-81, and forge a decider for the last remaining Finals berth, Friday night at Ynares Center here.

“I just told the players to enjoy this game, to keep it simple and it worked,” said coach Caloy Garcia, whose squad managed to extend the series after falling in three consecutive meetings.

“I told them to not think about whatever happens and asked each one of them to play their game and stay relaxed,” he added.

And it showed.

Yap led all of Rain or Shine’s scorers with 16 while Nambatac and Beau Belga tossed in 15 apiece. Jewel Ponferrada added 11 more to preserve their promising start to their semifinal series.

Magnolia managed to knot the affair at 62 by the end of the third quarter, all thanks to Ian Sangalang’s showing.

But they had no answer for Nambatac, who started to catch fire from deep at the start of the final frame. From thereon, Nambatac and Yap took turns on scoring, snuffing out every ounce of counterattack the Hotshots mounted.

“Coming into Game 7, we just have to do the same,” Garcia said of their sudden-death match scheduled this Sunday at MOA Arena in Pasay.

“But Magnolia, coming into such situation, have much more experience. We just have to trust each other,” he added.

The victory snapped Magnolia’s eight-game streak at Ynares Center, where the Hotshots crowned Governor’s Cup champions last December. Their last loss came in Sept. 17, 2017, in the hands of TNT.

Rain or Shine could also deny Magnolia a chance to get back at its tormentors in last year’s all-Filipino finals.

The scores:

RAIN OR SHINE 91 – Nambatac 16, Yap 16, Belga 15, Ponferada 11, Torres 8, Norwood 8, Rosales 7, Ahanmisi 5, Daquioag 2, Mocon 2, Borboran 1.

MAGNOLIA 81 – Sangalang 19, Lee 18, Jalalon 14, Herndon 9, Brondial 6, Melton 5, Reavis 4, Barroca 3, Ramos 3, Dela Rosa 0, Pascual 0, Abundo 0.

Quarters: 21-17, 41-35, 62-62, 91-81.

Bułeczki drożdżowe z maszyny

Drożdżówki z automatu do chleba
Kiedy najdzie Was mały leń, polecam drożdżówki z maszyny do chleba 🙂 Zagniecie za Was i przypilnuje wyrastania.

  • 250 ml mleka
  • 1 jajko
  • 2 żółtka
  • 3 łyżki cukru
  • pół łyżeczki soli
Dodatkowo do posmarowania:
  • 1 jajko i 1 łyżka mleka
Jeśli używamy suchych drożdży, to wszystkie składniki umieścić w maszynie, zaczynając od płynnych, kończąc na mące i drożdżach.
Jeśli używamy świeżych drożdży, najpierw robimy zaczyn: drożdże kruszymy, zasypujemy łyżka cukru i zalewamy 1/4 szklanki letniego mleka.
Odrywamy po kolei kawałki ciasta (wielkości małej piąstki) i zaczynamy formowanie bułek – rozpłaszczamy ciasto dłońmi, nakładamy nadzienie (wejdą 2-3 łyżki borówek/jagód) i zlepiamy.
Uformowane bułki układamy zlepieniem do dołu na papierze do pieczenia oprószonym mąką. Odstawiamy do ponownego wyrośnięcia na około 20 minut.
Przed pieczeniem smarujemy jajkiem rozbełtanym z mlekiem.
Pieczemy w 190 stopniach (170 przy termoobiegu) przez 15-20 minut – polecam ustawić 15 minut i monitorować zarumienienie. U mnie kwadrans wystarczył.
Studzić na kratce.
